Job Description

The Judiciary is one of the three State organs established under Chapter 10, Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya. It establishes the Judiciary as an independent custodian of justice in Kenya. Its primary role is to exercise judicial authority given to it, by the people of Kenya. The institution is mandated to deliver justice in line with the Constitution and other laws. It is expected to resolve disputes in a just manner with a view to protecting the rights and liberties of all, thereby facilitating the attainment of the ideal rule of law. The Judiciary and its related institutions (Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Kenya Law; previously National Council for Law Reporting (NCLR), Tribunals and the Judiciary Training Institute (JTI) perform the following functions; 1. Administration of justice 2. Formulation and implementation of judicial policies 3. Compilation and dissemination of case law and other legal information for the effective administration of justice

Requirements

For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: –

  1. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Building
  2. Civil Engineering, or its equivalent qualification; from a recognized institution; and
  3. Met the requirements of chapter six (6) of the Constitution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Studying all relevant drawings and written instructions of ongoing works, checking them and using them as a reference when inspecting ongoing work;
  2. Making regular, visual inspections of ongoing projects;
  3. Taking measurements and samples on site to make sure that the work and the materials meet the specifications and quality standards;
  4. Ensuring that work is carried out to the Judiciary’s standards, specification, correct materials, workmanship and schedules;
  5. Supervising constructions works on site to ensure adherence to quality and timelines;
  6. Monitoring progress of construction works regularly and report to relevant officer for action;
  7. Confirming contractors’ valuations of on-going works and materials on site;
  8. Checking compliance with requirements of ongoing works;
  9. Ensuring contractors comply with health and safety legislation and bring any shortfalls observed to the attention of the Architect;
  10. Making regular building condition surveys and making recommendations for required maintenance works;
  11. Setting out new and remodeling works to ensure consistency with drawings;
  12. Supervising and guiding artisans on any works carried out by internal staff;
  13. Conducting routine checks of building
  14. equipment conditions; and
  15. Preparing accurate periodic site inspection and other work reports.
